I don't read your posts regularly, but I enjoy them when I do. The sight of horizontal ink writing in a Leuchtturm notebook is particularly pleasing. Your handwriting is exquisite, too. As a notebook enthusiast, this caught my eye. I'm curious—did you choose this notebook deliberately, or do you share my passion for fine stationery? I'm currently in my Hobonichi phase.

The posts themselves are intriguing as well. Though I can't always find time to read them, today yours was the first in my feed—perhaps because of our recent chat about tea! Thank you again for your kind words about the article.

I also wanted to inquire about your progress with Akhmatova and her poem “Tsarskoye Selo”. Was that video from yesterday? Curiously, it evoked memories of home; I grew up in a house overlooking Kresty—the prison Akhmatova would gaze at from the embankment, where her monument now stands. These days, I find myself in a similar position to Akhmatova with Kresty, but viewing Petersburg from afar.

It's a Pebble Stationery Co notebook with Cosmo Air Light paper. I love that paper for fountain pens, except that my supplier has sold out. So when I finish this one—which will be very soon—I'll be using a notebook I've not used before, the Endless Recorder Notebook. I hope it's okay with ink! I'm definitely a stationery enthusiast! Hobonichis are cool. I used a five-year one that I finished at the end of 2023.

I recorded the Akhmatova poem a couple of days ago. I'd love to get my Russian language back to a good place and poetry seems like a good idea. I studied her when I was at uni 30 years ago but wasn't ready. She features quite heavily in a historical fiction novel I'm reading right now by Janet Fitch, and is also mentioned a lot in a cultural history book I just read called Natasha's Dance by Orlando Figes. I have a bilingual book of selected poems, but might actually spring for the complete works. It's an expensive two-volume set, but I'm sure I would treasure it.

Ah, the bright blue cover really reminded me of Leuchtturm. I haven't used either Pebble Stationery Co or Endless Recorder Notebook, but after browsing their website, I found some intriguing options. I knew you were a stationery enthusiast! The love for books and notebooks often goes hand in hand.

I haven't read Akhmatova in a while; her poems and verses tend to be quite melancholic and affect me deeply. You'd think I'd be accustomed to such themes, given my frequent reading of Dostoevsky. Nevertheless, yesterday I revisited "In Tsarskoye Selo" and a couple of other poems. If you'd like to discuss Akhmatova, feel free to reach out. We can correspond in Russian
