Up at four a.m.

Did I say I would feel sleepy later? Yes, Camuel, you did. Ah, okay then. That explains it. I guess getting up at four a.m. has a cost.

Cams I’m so sorry to read about Clover. We called it on our last remaining dog a few weeks ago, having decided he’d be our last after almost fifty years of dog-loving. Our son is a gamekeeper and in recent years we’ve taken on his older working dogs for their happy retirement. In the end the dog knew, our son knew, and we knew. You will be doing the right thing come the day.
As a side note, I’m loving both W&P too, and also the first chapter of Doctor Zhivago so am looking forward to your post on it.
Cams, I’m sorry about Clover. It’s sad to lose a close companion.
Actually, I felt that too while reading chapter 11 of W&P. Pierre and Andre met and both had changed so much they had not much to say to each other. Having been such close friends, but they couldn’t talk about the grief of Andre’s loss or the anger of Pierre’s loss. What they did talk about revealed the chasm between their world views. I felt sad.
